SUN HATS

New Zealand has some of the highest UV levels in the world. Make sure to wear a sun protective hat as part of your sun smart daily routine.  Wear the hat with sunglasses, long sleeve clothing, sunscreen and seek shade where possible.

All sun protective hats sold by Cancer Society of NZ have been independently tested and have a maximum rating of UPF50+.

Our Hats comply with the AS/NZS 4399:2017 Clothing Standard

To claim or display a UPF rating, hats are required to provide good sun protection and shall be one of the following designs:

(a) Bucket (at least 6cm brim width)

(b) Broad brimmed (at least 6cm brim width for hats with a 56cm circumference and a 7.5cm brim width for a circumference greater than 56cm).

(c) Legionnaire (shall have a neck flap providing coverage for the ears and back of the neck to the collarbone/shoulder).

(d) Alternative hat designs providing protection and shading at the crown, face, ears and neck are also acceptable.
